Ski/Snowshoe

Cross-county skiing and snow-shoeing are great ways to avoid cabin-fever in the winter, get some great exercise and have fun with others all at the same time.  The slopes of the dunes and wide trails allow for many great winter opportunities whether you are sliding on skis or walking on snowhoes.  The trails are not groomed here, but with many skiers using the preserve, tracks are set early after snowfall.  If you are snowshoeing walk to the side of the ski tracks as a courtesy to other recreationalists. Remember to dress appropriately and bring drinking water even in the winter.

Want to try Snowshoeing?

During the winter months our guided programs offer the use of our classroom set of snowshoes.  Register for a program on our calendar and if there is snow on the ground, get a free trial.  We do not rent snowshoes for general use.
