The Discovery Center

Room Rentals

The Discovery Center, a fully accessible facility, is ideal for training sessions, meetings, small conferences and business retreats. The building features 1,484 square feet of meeting room space, three meeting rooms and a unique greeting area with 3,500 square feet of interactive exhibits. Meeting rooms feature internet access and LCD projection systems. There are several miles of marked, multiple-use trails located out the back door of the Discovery Center. Most trails are considered easy to moderate and highlight the unique plant communities of the preserve.

Karner Classroom

This room is a great place for smaller meetings or small group events. Seating in this space is comfortable for 25 with chairs only or 15 around a table.  When not in use it hosts a variety of special exhibits so you may be surrounded by beautiful photography.  It’s a relaxed space that lets in some great natural light.

Pine Barrens Room

This room is a more formal meeting room with the flare of the Discovery Center still present.  This room is easily accessible from the exhibit space and has the ability to be split in two.  With carpeted floors and dual projection system, this room can seat up to 50 with chairs only or 25 chairs with tables.

  • Sinks and counter areas

Oak Executive Suite

The Oak Executive Suite is great for business meetings.  With exterior access and large windows you’ll feel like you are meeting in the middle of the preserve!  The room has many arrangements but can comfortably fit 25 seated around a meeting table.  With a smartboard for presentations and a conference call system, this room is relaxed yet sophisticated.  

 

The room has the following amenities: 

  • Smartboard for presentations and group work on digital whiteboard
  • Conference phone system with extra microphones and speakers
  • Wifi
  • The suite offers an entry area for food presentation.

 


Discovery Center

Why not rent the whole facility! You’ll get access to the Exhibit space, Karner Classroom and the Pine Barrens Room.

 

This space includes the following amenities: 

  • Exhibit space, Karner Classroom, Pine Barrens Room and outdoor pavillion.
  • Wifi
  • Conference phone systems
  • Multiple presentation spaces: Karner Classroom, Pine Barrens Room and Fire Theater
  • Whiteboards and Easels
  • Podium
  • Gift Shop can be requested to remain open for your event.

Pricing

Single Room Rental (Base Rate: $150)
This includes 4 hours during normal operating hours, in one room (Pine Barrens Room, Karner Classroom or Oak Room), tables and chairs set-up, 1 staff host and A/V. Renter set up and clean up are included in this time frame.
--Additional hour during normal operating hours: $40/hour
--Additional hour outside of normal operating hours: $80/hour
 
Facility Rental (Base Rate: $600)
This includes 4 hours in the Discovery Center Exhibit area, Karner Classroom, Pine Barrens Room and Butterfly Pavilion, 2 staff hosts and A/V use. Renter set up and clean up are included in this timeframe. This rental is only available outside of normal operating hours, after 4 pm and no later than 10 pm.
--Additional hour: $150/hour
 
Non-profits receive 50% off rates for single and facility rentals.

Holidays: 10 am – 4 pm
Closed: New Year’s Day, Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve and Christmas Day
 
Rentals are based upon staff and facility availability.  Rentals not within Normal Operating Hours above are charged an extra fee for use.  Set up and clean up are included in the hours of your rental.
