The magnitude of plastic pollution as a global problem affecting all environments has come into dramatic focus in recent years.  The oceans are increasingly loaded with plastic of all sizes.  Microplastic particles (those less than 5 mm in size) are the unseen part of the problem.  How extensive is microplastic pollution in our region?  Is the Mohawk River contaminated?  What about the smaller tributaries flowing into the Mohawk River?  Join us this evening as Jacqueline Smith, PhD, Adjunct and Research Professor of Geology at Union College, speaks about her years of research that have provided us with some unfortunate answers to these questions.
