Suitable for adults
In tonight’s lecture, Tim McCay, PhD professor in the Biology Department and Environmental Studies Program at Colgate University, will describe recent and ongoing work to better understand the ecology of earthworms in the northeastern United States. The earthworm community of the Northeast consists of native species, European species that invaded a long time ago, and Asian species that colonized more recently. Invasive species are fighting for habitat in a changing landscape, which creates obvious conservation challenges. However, new insights into native earthworms of the region have created conservation opportunities as well.
