Landscape paintings by 19th-century Hudson River School artists celebrate the majestic beauty of the United States. Their work brought pride to the new nation and helped shape an emerging American identity. The grand, scenic landscapes also influenced the beginnings of the environmental movement in the country. This indoor program by Patrick Stenshorn of the Albany Institute of History and Art will provide insights into the Hudson River School and its impact on the conservation movements of the late 19th and 20th centuries.
