The inland barrens buckmoth is a giant silk moths that feeds exclusively on scrub oaks as a caterpillar. This beautiful day-flying moth, a species of greatest conservation need in New York State, can be seen flying over the preserve in the fall. Train this evening to become a citizen scientist and help us monitor buckmoths in the preserve.

The Training: Join us to learn about the Inland barrens buckmoth, a giant silk moth that feeds exclusively on scrub oaks as a caterpillar, and how you can help survey them.

The Survey: Surveyors will conduct surveys to count buckmoths from late September through early October.
