For many children the only thing standing in the way of a trip out of the city and into the natural world of the Pine Bush is the cost of a school bus trip. The average cost per child for a school bus trip to the Pine Bush is only $5.

Funding is available to Capital Region school districts and youth organizations for reimbursement of bus costs for educational field trips to the Albany Pine Bush Preserve. Funds are made possible through the Friends of the Pine Bush Community, a nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization that supports the Ticket to Ride bus grant.

  • Through Ticket to Ride bus costs are reimbursed up to $400 for schools who qualify for the National School Lunch program at 40% or more. Youth organizations may qualify with a statement of need and a description of students’ financial limitations
  • Grants are awarded on a first come, first serve basis
  • A list of available school and group program topics can be reviewed here
  • To register for a field trip and find out more information on bus funding, please contact Jackie Citriniti, Albany Pine Bush Preserve Lead Educator at jcitriniti@AlbanyPineBush.org or 518.456.0655 x1227
