Kids and their family members are invited to an intergenerational poetry writing workshop with Peaches Gillette, author of "Walking the Land: A Loving Tribute to Family Farms" and "The Breadth of a Tree". Participants will:

  • Learn about the special ecology of the Albany Pine Bush Preserve, home to one of the largest inland pitch pine-scrub oak barrens in the world.
  • Learn why poetry is uniquely suited to writing about our experiences in nature.
  • Hear examples of poetry about nature.
  • Write their own composition in this sensory-rich format.
  • After the workshop participants are invited to visit the Discovery Center and walk the trails!

Young children are welcome. This program is free and open to the public, is open to all languages, and language users of all levels. Writing is notrequired. Family is self-defined. Register now to save your spot!
