Feb 13, 2026 Night at the Discovery Center

The exhibits come alive on February 13!

You’re invited to Night at the Discovery Center to see the exhibits come to life! Meet Pine Bush characters from the past and present and enjoy interactive exhibits, games, storytelling and more! 

Highlights include:

Exhibits come to life!

  • Talk with a member of our prescribed fire crew
  • Meet the Rapp Road Historic Community
  • Explore history with colonial-era re-enactors
  • Learn about the Karner blue butterfly from our Vladimir Nabokov re-enactor
  • Experience live local wildlife with the Vermont Museum of Natural History
  • Watch a bird banding demonstration with our scientists


Hike: Join us for a 30-minute walk along the blue trail to the “Overlook” and discover the Pine Bush at night (4:30pm, 5:30pm and 6:30pm). Space is limited. Sign up when you arrive.


Animal mask craft: Drop by the craft room and make an owl or bat mask to wear and bring home.


Book signing: Meet local author Natasha Permaul and purchase a signed copy of her children’s book, Mister Karner Blue.


Music around the campfire: Stop by our cozy campfire and sing along with local musicians MaryAnn Kosek and Deb Fish


Nature journaling demonstration: Learn from Preserve Naturalist Pamela Price how to keep a nature journal and try your hand at sketching an owl.


Night sensory experience: Use your senses to explore this interactive exhibit and journey into the night without leaving the Discovery Center!


Puzzles and games: Be sure to try our puzzles and games at Night at the Discovery Center! Stop by the Docent station to pick up new night-themed scavenger hunts and a matching game. 


Take-home kit: Before you leave, pick up a kit to bring home and create your very own Pine Bush diorama exhibit!


Refreshments: Several food trucks will be on site with hot drinks and snacks for purchase.

No reservations required

This is a drop-in special event. You're welcome to stop by anytime between 4:00pm and 7:30pm. Activities will be on-going throughout the evening.
