What is the Albany Pine Bush?

A unique ecosystem

Welcome to the Albany Pine Bush!

The Albany Pine Bush Preserve is a local nature preserve in the Capital District of New York State and home of the annual Lupine Fest! If you have a chance to visit the Pine Bush, you'll notice right away that this place is unique. Rolling sand dunes and distinctive pitch pine trees are visual cues you've entered a new landscape. Smells of pine and charred earth after a prescribed fire are charactersitic of this landscape on a Pine Bush summer's day.  And in the spring, the wild blue lupine is in full bloom!
