Diversity & Inclusion Statement
Diversity & Inclusion Statement
Since its founding in 2005, Friends of the Pine Bush Community has enthusiastically embraced its mission of helping people enjoy this special place and has seized opportunities to participate in local learning, research, and stewardship in the preserve. One of our most successful means of outreach has been our Ticket to Ride Program in which we have provided over 2,400 school children the opportunity to visit the Discovery Center and experience hands-on STEM learning with Preserve educators. We take pride in it and other successful programs but realize that more needs to be done.
During this time of focus on social justice, inclusion, and diversity, we have challenged ourselves to investigate how we can make all of the Albany Pine Bush programs and trails more well-known and welcoming to our diverse local populations.
We welcome perspectives from Black, Indigenous, People of Color, and LGBTQIA+ partners and community voices to better understand what actions we might take to make this valuable resource more accessible to all our community residents.
