The Friends of the Pine Bush Community is thrilled to announce the February 2021 Book Club Choice. Participants in the poll chose "The Overstory" by Richard Powers, a masterful novel about the power of trees, described as "one of the best novels ever, period" by Ann Patchett.
From the author's website:
"A monumental novel about reimagining our place in the living world, by one of our most “prodigiously talented” (New York Times Book Review) novelists. The Overstory unfolds in concentric rings of interlocking fable that range from antebellum New York to the late twentieth-century Timber Wars of the Pacific Northwest and beyond."
The page count of this tome nears 500 so it is perhaps the perfect companion for this wintery stay-at-home holiday/new year season.
This Friends Book Club event is the first of its kind, but hopefully not the last! We hope that you will enjoy reading and sharing your responses and insights at the online meeting on February 25, 2021 at 7pm.

This book is beyond special.… It’s a kind of breakthrough in the ways we think about and understand the world around us, at a moment when that is desperately needed.
