This program is suitable for tweens, teens, and adults.

Join us to meet members of the Rapp Road Community and learn more about the Rapp Road Historic District, a 14-acre structurally and socially preserved residential neighborhood in the Albany Pine Bush.

In 1927, during the Great Migration, the first of 23 families migrated from Shubuta, Mississippi to build new lives for their families in Albany, NY. Descendents still live in the homes their ancestors constructed between 1927 and 1963.

We'll start the evening with WMHT's original documentary North to New York: The Great Migration in NY's Capital Region, followed by a panel discussion with members of the Rapp Road Community. Doors open at 5:30pm and the film starts at 6:00pm. This program meets inside the Discovery Center.
