Recent restoration efforts have revealed the highest elevation and dune formation in the entire Pine Bush Preserve! Join us for a 1.2-mile hike as we explore new fields of lupine, sand dunes and high-quality barrens. This program will meet at the Kings Highway Barrens Trailhead (#9).

This program is part of our 2026 Lupine Fest passport program. Use your passport to explore Lupine Fest all month long! Attend hikes, programs, exhibits, and special events, and collect a stamp for each activity you complete.

Trailhead #9 Kings Highway Barrens
Directions from Discovery Center to Kings Highway Barrens (Trailhead 9). At traffic light in front of Discovery Center building, continue straight through intersection, onto Old State Road. Follow Old State Rd. 0.6 miles to 3 way stop sign intersection. At stop sign, turn right onto Kings Road. Continue straight on Kings Road for 1.3miles. Trailhead will be on your right hand side of the road. Look for pull off area, split rail fencing, and brown kiosk.
