Suitable for ages 13+
The MacroBlitz project on iNaturalist inspires and empowers people to find and photograph aquatic macroinvertebrates (small water-dwelling critters), and upload those photos to iNaturalist for science and learning. In this training, you will learn the basics through hands-on experience. We will spend 30-40 minutes indoors familiarizing ourselves with iNaturalist and the basics of macrophotography with a phone camera. We will also spend time in the field, collecting and photographing macroinvertebrates and releasing them when we are done. And finally, we will practice uploading our observations, talk about identifications and what we can do to make our observations more useful to science. Familiarity with iNaturalist is a plus. Having created an iNaturalist account is required. You will receive an email on how to set up the account when you register. This program meets inside the Discovery Center. Participants must have their own transportation for the field portion of this program.
