Suitable for all ages

Wildlife populations can tell us much about ecosystem health. On this hike science staff from the Albany Pine Bush Preserve Commission and the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation will discuss how listening to the wildlife has improved efforts to conserve pine barrens ecosystems and the many rare animals they support. The unfolding stories of birds, bees and butterflies can be both beautiful and incredibly informative – all we need to do is listen. All ages are welcome on this short (0.6 mi) walk through the flat sandy trails in the Madison Avenue Pinelands. We will meet at the Madison Avenue Pinelands trailhead (#7).
