This program is suitable for ages 8+.
Join us on this 0.9 mile hike as we look for wild blue lupine plants, the sole food source for the endangered Karner blue butterfly. Once common in the Glacial Lake Albany sand belt, the Karner blue plummeted in numbers and was listed as a federally endangered species in 1992. Come learn about the natural history of the Karner blue and our efforts to increase the population of Karner blues in the Albany Pine Bush Preserve. We will meet inside the Discovery Center.
