Learn how to fish at this free sport fishing clinic at Six Mile Waterworks conducted by the NYS DEC, Albany Pine Bush Preserve Commission, City of Albany and Albany County. In addition to casting a rod and catching fish, participants can learn about fish identification, fishing equipment and techniques, fisheries management, angling ethics, aquatic ecology, and more! All equipment is provided free of charge. No prior experience needed.
Six Mile Waterworks is located in the City of Albany and the easternmost region of the Albany Pine Bush Preserve just off Fuller Road, about 0.2 miles north of I-90.
During these clinics no freshwater fishing license or enrollment in the recreational marine fishing registry is required*, but all other statewide freshwater fishing regulations and saltwater fishing regulations remain in effect (*Kids under 16 can always fish for free!).
This program is part of our 2025 Lupine Fest passport program, where you can earn prizes by participating in events all month long! To get your passport visit www.AlbanyLupineFest.org or download the Goosechase app and search for “Albany Lupine Fest”.
