An extraordinary journey into the Albany Pine Bush – a globally rare, nationally significant, and locally distinct inland pine barrens. Our experts will guide you along this 1.2-mile hike over rolling sand dunes where you will discover Pine Bush natural history and seasonal surprises and transformations.

This program will meet at the Kings Highway Barrens Trailhead (#9).

Trailhead #9 Kings Highway Barrens
Directions from Discovery Center to Kings Highway Barrens (Trailhead 9). At traffic light in front of Discovery Center building, continue straight through intersection, onto Old State Road. Follow Old State Rd. 0.6 miles to 3 way stop sign intersection. At stop sign, turn right onto Kings Road. Continue straight on Kings Road for 1.3miles. Trailhead will be on your right hand side of the road. Look for pull off area, split rail fencing, and brown kiosk.
