Support Ticket to Ride 2025
December 01, 2024
One of the most impactful things that we can all do to ensure a better future is to give kids the opportunity to love and appreciate the natural world around them.
But for many kids in our region, the chance to explore wonderful places like the Albany Pine Bush Preserve is just out of their reach - separated by the cost of a bus ride.
That’s where you can make a difference.
The Ticket-to-Ride program through the Friends of the Pine Bush Community aims to remove that obstacle. We have made it possible for thousands of students from the Capital Region to explore the Preserve - in many cases giving them their first introduction to environmental education and, hopefully, sparking a lifelong appreciation for our globally rare pine barrens.
However, demand for the Ticket-to-Ride program is greater than ever, as state funding for school trips to parks and nature preserves has dried up. We have stepped up to focus our funding in 2025 toward making sure we can welcome as many visitors as possible.
The Friends of the Pine Bush Community is a nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization that relies on the generosity of donors like you to fund programs like Ticket-to-Ride. Your donation will directly fund a bus that brings children out of the city and into the Pine Bush’s captivating landscape - a place where they can learn firsthand about wildlife, habitats, the importance of scientific research and conservation. Help us reach our goal of providing transportation for 1,000 young people to come explore the Pine Bush in 2025.
Thanks to a Challenge Grant from the Tobin family, we are able to match every $2 you donate with an additional $1 (up to $2,500). This means that your contribution will go even further to help fund even more visits!

Together, we can ensure that more children have the opportunity to get outside and step into nature’s classroom. Please consider supporting the Friends of the Pine Bush Community and the Ticket-to-Ride program today and help us inspire the next generation of environmental stewards.
I hope to see you on the trails in the coming year!
With gratitude,
