Howl and Prowl: Halloween in the Pine Bush

Join us for some Halloween-themed fun! Drop by the Discovery Center on Friday 4pm - 7pm or Saturday 10am - 3pm and learn more about spooky Pine Bush creatures through hands-on activities and crafts. Friday night’s festivities will include night hikes throughout the evening. Costumes are welcome!

The Albany Pine Bush is home to eight species of oak which all serve as a source of food and cover for animals in the Albany Pine Bush. Join us for a 0.9 mile hike over sandy rolling terrain where we discuss how to identify oaks and talk about their special role in this rare-ecosystem. This program is suitable for adults.

Join us inside the Discovery Center for light refreshments and information on owls followed by a hike to listen for the calls of owls in the Pine Bush. This program is suitable for adults.

Ever wonder how some animals thrive at night? Join us to learn more about nocturnal animals in the Pine Bush and their adaptations. This program is suitable for ages 6+.

Join us for a 0.9 mile walk in the Pine Bush to explore the big and the small, the living and non-living and the seasonal surprises around us using Rachel Carson's writing as inspiration. This program is suitable for tweens, teens and adults.

Full Moon Hike at Blueberry Hill West

Enjoy the Pine Bush at night under a full moon. We will meet at the Blueberry Hill West trailhead (#5). This program is suitable for families.
Discover the Pine Bush at Karner Barrens

Our experts will guide you along this 0.9-mile hike over rolling sand dunes where you will discover Pine Bush natural history and seasonal surprises and transformations. Suitable for ages 6+.
