Suitable for adults, and tweens and teens with a parent or gaurdian. Children under age 18 must be accompanied by a parent or gaurdian during the training session and during all surveys. Surveys are conducted after dark.

This training: The training will provide an introduction to FrogWatch, and volunteers will be trained to become certified FrogWatchers.  FrogWatch USA™ is a citizen science program of the Akron Zoo that invites individuals and families to learn about the wetlands in their communities and help conserve amphibians by reporting data on the calls of local frogs and toads.  Data Sheets and Protocols are explained in detail at training, and materials are provided by email afterward.  Information on setting up an account to enter the information on the FrogWatch USA™  site is also provided.

The Survey: From February through August, certified FrogWatchers will listen to and report frogs and toads calling in the APBP study area.  Surveys are conducted independently in the evening – at least 30 minutes after sunset - at least once per month (February – August).  Data will be entered online on the FrogWatch USA™  site.

All volunteers are required to complete volunteer forms prior to volunteering with the preserve. These forms can be completed online, and information will be provided upon your registration.
