Since her first study of bees in the Albany Pine Bush Preserve (APBP) in 2010, Albany Pine Bush Preserve Commission, Field Ecologist and Entomologist, Amanda Dillon has found over 170 species of native solitary bees that call this place home. Little is known about these pollinators but they play an irreplaceable role in the APBP ecosystem. In her lecture, Dillon will detail what we have learned so far about the diversity and land management response of these native pollinators in this rare Inland Pine Barrens. She will introduce audience members to the major groups of native solitary bees found in the preserve and provide insights into their status here, as well as describe how you can help your native pollinators in your own backyard.
