BRSCU AOK
Answer: SCRUB OAK
This is a shrub that grows in the Albany Pine Bush Preserve. There are actually two species of "scrub oak": dwarf chestnut and bear oak. Both produce acorns, an important source of food for a diversity of wildlife species. Scrub oaks often form dense thickets but may be seen growing more widely spaced apart in recently managed areas of the preserve. Scrub oaks also provide important nesting habitat for shrubland birds.
