SUMMARY:Science Lecture Series: “Where Did the Trees Go?”
DESCRIPTION:\n	Suitable for adults\n	Active management practices such as prescribed burns and invasive tree removal are commonly used at the Albany Pine Bush Preserve and other nature preserves across the country. Through the use of a survey\, Cornell University researcher Sarah Naiman explored how local residents and visitors felt about the use of various management practices and looked at how their feelings towards the Albany Pine Bush Preserve's management influenced their support for or opposition to the preserve. She also looked into other factors that may influence people's support for the Albany Pine Bush Preserve including their preference for forested landscapes\, environmental identity\, sense of responsibility\, and attachment to the preserve. Sarah will share research about what types of factors influence people’s behavior\, and which of those factors influence individuals’ support for and opposition to the Albany Pine Bush Preserve.\n
